well what to say ........i looked really chic and one thinks that ur going to have master chef quality food but to be honest its far from it the chef for one does not know the difference between pork and chicken . And for one who does not eat pork was mentaly and emotionaly tramatized when the chef decided to mess up my food and made me eat pork .....i still feels nauseous after 2 days ............ it was a very family unfriendly place and not very welcoming for my daughter .....and even the food tasted just ok nothing out of the ordinary and certinally not worth the amount of money they are charging .....i would recommend to all to save ur money and dont waste ur time or energy to go there ..............best of luck guys

I went for lunch with a friend a few weeks ago. The service was excellent (if a little over formal), the wait staff friendly and informative and the food excellent value and quality. We ate from the well priced table d'hote menu (also called menu du jour on the website for some reason). I had a peculiar deconstructed tart as a starter and my friend had a quite inventive salad. Both were fine and accompanied by excellent bread, good butter and oil and balsamic. We also were served an amuse bouche that was a refreshing cucumber/melon concoction as I remember. Whatever, it left a pleasant memory. For mains we both had beef cheeks. Unctuous meat, nice sauce and fab veggies. We finished with ice cream and a good to excellent cheese selection. I had a glass of Sav Blanc I think or it may have been a Viognier and then a brilliant and gutsy Shiraz. The red was a bit pricey as are the wines generally. Overall a very pleasurable experience and one I shall hope to repeat. I'd pretty much given up trying to find a decent restaurant in this area (I live about 20 minutes from Scunthorpe near the Humber) other than Winteringham Fields (which is just too pricey for regular dining). To find such quality in of all places Scunthorpe blows me away. I hope the place continues to thrive now I've found it. I'll be going back!

After reading your review, Steven, I was initially put off from going to San Pietro but I thought that you might have had a bad experience because every restaurant will be extremely busy on New Years Eve. We went the other night and it was great. We recognised the sommelier from Winteringham Fields and the other staff were pleasant and helpful too. We went on a Thursday night and the restaurant must have only been about quarter full but Im sure theyre busier on a Saturday. My wife enjoyed the soup and the scallops were very nicely done, served with Jerusalem artichoke cream, crab bisque foam and purple potato crisps. For the main course we both had beef with foie gras with a juice of red wine, shallots and garlic, mine medium, my wifes cooked medium/rare. Both were cooked nicely. Im not surprised your friends are rugular clients, well certainly return.

reading the review of mr firth makes me laugh i was in the restaurant on the night of new year and totally disagree with Everything that he said, yes was crowded but that gave such a great atmosphere, lots of space and the food, service and beverages were superb as for the cheeseboard this gentleman obviously hasn't eaten in many high class establishments one of the best i have seen and served well by the young waitor dont let the previous review put you of goin to san pietro a splendid restaurant brilliant hosts and staff friendly..

Went to St Pietro on New Years Eve.......a long awaited visit with friends who are regular clients. Heard great things but so so disappointed. 30 covers too many and then it was still tight. Waiters having to pass cutlery across the table is just not on ! Tables virually on top of one another Meal so so......dry carpacio of smoked venison.....soup was passable and a canneloni of pasta wrapped chicken that had no place on the menu......The fish cousre was however quite tasty given the volume of clients opting for the fish option. Desert.Oh sorry the ONE desert.....Choclate pudding was dreadful being over whipped and lacking any real texture and the chesseboard quite possibly the worst I have personally been presented with in many a year ! After hearing so many good things prior to the visit, my disappointment was further augmented by the overwhelming fact that this was an exercise to get as many people in as possible and surrender service, quality of food and ambience for profit....enough said
