Saira - 04-08-2005

I visited Spice Lounge last Tuesday (2nd August), on its Arabic-themed night. As part of a large group with some vegetarians, we were advised to opt for their Banguet Menu, which included, potatoes and more potatoes and not a great deal else as part of the main course for the vegetarians. On asking if we could request any other dishes, we were advised the chef will do that! He decided to cook 'prawns', for the 'STRICT vegetarians. The food didnt taste too authentic, but was ample. The lighting is dimmed very early on in the evening, which makes it rather difficult to see what you are eating. The main course arrived a bit too early, with the waiters trying to remove the starter dishes whilst we were half way through! The music is extremely loud, which makes it difficult to make conversation. The service was very poor, having to constantly LOOK for the staff to order anything else. It took a number of attempts to ask for the bill. The entertainment was a middle aged, rather large belly dancer, who was ok. The arabic music is very good and there is ample opportunity to hit the dance floor. I wouldn't recommend going for a meal, maybe just a drink. S
