Few things are as typically English as the tradition of afternoon tea. An afternoon tea is an amazing way to unwind and get refreshed for the rest of the day. Though, an afternoon tea arrangement is easy to set up at home nothing beats sipping afternoon tea at one of the many UK restaurants. I cannot think of afternoon tea without thinking of the Ritz situated at the Piccadilly Square, The Ritz is almost synonymous with Afternoon tea to me. It is best to book a table beforehand, if you decide to go there. You can call or book it online.
Afternoon tea at the Ritz is by no means a casual affair, so you better be dressed up in formals, Ritz is not the place where you can stroll in a pair of jeans and tees, trust me they will turn you away. The afternoon tea is served at the Palm Court of The Ritz and it must be experienced at least once. They offer a variety of tea and a three-tiered plate with variety of pastries, sandwiches and later scones. The tiny pastries and sandwiches look very cute and taste absolutely delicious. You can taste the goodies Ritz has to offer while listening to the Pianist who also plays on requests. Though an afternoon tea at the Ritz is an expensive affair, it is definitely worth it.
Another amazing place for an afternoon tea is the Tower Restaurant and Terrace, situated on top of the National Museum of Scotland. This UK restaurant is Edinburgh’s first rooftop restaurant and attracts a good number of celebrities and the locals swear by the place. One can view the spectacular Edinburgh castle while enjoying the plush interiors. They offer afternoon tea for £ 15.95 and a champagne afternoon tea for £24.95 which is a great deal considering the place.
Hush Brasserie on Lancashire Court happens to be one of my favorite places for an afternoon tea. My favorite at this restaurant in UK is the Earl Grey tea with a dash of gentleman’s relish. The tea along with some sandwiches makes a pretty awesome afternoon tea. They do offer a Hendrick’s High Tea Menu which besides an afternoon tea includes a Hendricks cocktail as well as molecular cocktail samples, this combination is priced at £24.75, a little more expensive than the Tower Restaurant but the molecular cocktail samples are an interesting experience for those who have not tried it before.
