Recently, I was going through an old Good Food Guide and saw the Cote Restaurant had won the ‘Best Value Restaurant’ in Britain. There are many UK Restaurants that specialize in French cuisine but they often do not provide value for money so I was tempted to try the Cote Restaurant.

When you look at a Cote Restaurant, you can make out it has been inspired by the bistros in Paris. I think Bistros serve the most simple but amazing food. Cote restaurants are located in Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, London, Midlands, South West and Wales, Surrey and Sussex. They serve breakfast, lunch and early evening meals.

They offer a variety of red, white and sparkling wines while some are available only in bottles others can be purchased per glass i.e. - 175 ml. We had reasons to celebrate so we decided to order some bubbly drinks. I had a heard a lot about steak frites, so I decided to try that while my friend tried the anchovy pissaladiere for starters. I opted for a Tuna Nicoise for the main course while my friend ordered a Tart Provencale. There were a variety of grills and steaks on the menu which I wanted to try, maybe next time. We ordered light Mains since we definitely wanted to save enough space for dessert in our tummies. We were stunned by the authenticity of it, it could very well be served in a bistro in France and the best part of the story was the food was actually money for value. They seem to have some nice weekend specials as well.

They had quite a bit of variety in the dessert section as well but we decided to stick to our all time favorite Crème brulee and we were not disappointed. Cote has a warm and efficient staff that made our dining experience really nice. The staff of a restaurant is very important to me, most UK restaurants that run successfully have a friendly staff. We were served our orders within the stipulated time and with a smile.

Cote was a wonderful experience for me and my friend since we wanted some basic good French food sitting right in Britain. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the same but if you want fancy modern French food you should try some other restaurants in United Kingdom. It is not very difficult to get a reservation at Cote, you can even get restaurant details online.
